hi everybody, im a new forum user.
Well, i got this,my phpbb forum has a mod rewrite installed already, my urls are this way:
site.com/forum/forum-name-vf185.php and
site.com/forum/topic-name-vt5.php. But I wanna change them to:
site.com/forum/forum-name-vf185/ and
site.com/forum/forum-name-vf185/topic-name-vt5/
How can I do that?
I know thats pretty simple for you guys, so give me a hand plz.

About your urls it really depends on both phpBB and mod rewrite version.
Could you tell us a bit more ? |

Hi,
Well I dont use any mod rewrite version from phpbb-seo.com , I instead downloaded from this spanish site, but I can uninstalled and set versions from phpbb-seo, All I wanna is to rewrite urls like i said before.

Ok.
So first, you should note that if you change your urls, you'll have to set up some HTTP 301 redirecting in order to properly redirect old url to the new ones.
Then, virtual folder trick (forum-url/topic.html) is so far only available with phpBB3, so what you want could be a good occasion to convert, would made it doable and would save some soon to be useless work on phpBB2.
Beside, since we do not want to massively redirect our forums urls too often, converting prior to change your url structure would save one redirect (better than 1st changing url, then eventually convert and again change urls).
A good thing to do now would be to test our SEO premod a bit, to find out more about the vast possibilities and to evaluate how hard converting would be (should be simple in most cases). |
