Any Instructions on installation??

I read the files and i still don't know how to install it, should i upload the files? Is there an install function in admin panel of forum, or i have to manually change code in forum? , sorry the package does not explain the installation properly........ Rolling Eyes

Well if you ever installed a mod before that, the install file are pretty understandable IMHO.
Of course URL rewritings deals with more than just PHP, but beside, the code change are pretty easy to apply, and not that many.

I suggest you set up a test board and give a try, you'll see it's easy, and it won't be time lost for the real one.

okay my first time installing a mod, the mod came with two files: phpbb_seo/phpbb_seo_class.php
## phpbb_seo/.htaccess

Should u upload the .htaccess and follow the instructions , where would the phpbb_seo_class.php go, the root of my website where the .htaccess file is, or do i need to create a folder and put both in?

2.i know a couple of files have been included, could it be possible to just download same files form this forum that need to be over written and package them in a zip folder.....i wanted my url's to look like the one in this forum...
or could u kindly install seo mod in my forum?

I strongly encourage you to set up a test forum rather than play with modding an online one.

5 days and counting hehe okay, i want to install the mod for phpbb 3...latest release, the file i downloaded here comes with two .htacess files, with no real direction on if i should upload files or???/ + in the instruction guide it does not say where the phpbb seo file should go.......before all the editing begins. i am assuming i have to upload them manually to my directory, but to where to the root of the domain or create a new folder?

Just upload the phpbb_seo/ folder in your phpBB install folder.

The .htaccess should be installed in the domain's root, with the path to phpBB if there is any from root.

I ensure you the install exactly says where to upload what and what to do.

I really think you'd win time setting up a local test server to give a try installing this mod.

The 0.4.0 will come with an installer, if you can wait a bit, you'll soon be able to use it Wink

thanks for your instructions and in fact such a wonderful product, my i did ( Install ) it after two hours trying to change the code...........but now i am receiving some errors....

Must be a typo pasted upon install, just check the viewforum.php file code changes.

As well, if it's not the case already, I suggest you start using a decent editor, with some smart highlighting such as gvim.

Feel free to post code, but not too much at a time, preferably send zip archive link when you want to show us all your file content.

I have been so busy i have not had time to package files, em can it be possible to package , an already installed mod- rewrite package files on a fresh forum install ( files needed to be edited), so that i could just upload the files to my site and overwrite previous files? Laughing

can you now say if i will delet old seo mod or how i will know which part is new and wich old?

The update will be pretty easy, few code changes in phpBB files, most changes will be in phpbb_seo_class.php file.

Then, you will be able to keep exactly the same URL as before (phpBB2 mod rewrite included) but I'm sure you'll take this occasion to play with your urls a bit. Modifying your url may only require some .htaccess update, the same as if you would migrate form a totally different mod.
