I have an established phpBB3 forum with only one customization, which is the addition of bb3portal.php - which uses .htaccess to be set as the DirectoryIndex.
We already have many indexed URLs, and I do not want to lose any authority on these pages. I would like to optimize my meta tags and titles, as well.
What is my best course of action for optimizing my URL structure? Which mods need to be installed, and in what order? |

About the .htaccess, you'll just have to add the custom DirectoryIndex from the portal's .htacess in the phpBB one.
Then, as it seems you did not implemented any URL rewriting mod before, just install the mod rewrite from here, and then the zero duplicate. And you won't lose anything in Search engines, older URL will be HTTP 301 redirected to the attended ones.
About meta tags and titles optimization, there is no particular order. You can install them when you want.
Stricltly talking about URL rewriting and URL structure, you may want to set up a test board to get familiar with the advanced phpBB3 SEO URL mod possibilities.
Could as well be worth waiting until the mixed and the simple version get released if you do not want to go for title injection in URLs.
