[solved]phpbbh3 in sub folder+joomla seo=404 errorPosted: Mon Jun 16, 2008 6:11 pm    Post subject: [solved]phpbbh3 in sub folder+joomla seo=404 error

Hi! i searched help myself in this forum but didn't find.
I've a joomla site seo, all ok. Now I've installed Advanced mod rewrite, think correctly. In my ucp I have seo panel, and after generete .htacces and enable it link are correctly rewrited. BUT I have 404 error for every rewrited url, an internal error.
I tried many combiantions:
1 .htaccess, one in root and one in phpbb3 folder--->BAD 404 error from web server
2.merge joomla and phpbb3 .htaccess into root folder----->BAD but 404 error from phpbb3, better in a kind Shocked
3. try diffente config of .htaccess -----> BAD

This is my site,http://wargames.netsons.org, i've disabled mod rewrite.
Thanks for reading.

Here the merged .htaccess:

[solved]phpbbh3 in sub folder+joomla seo=404 errorPosted: Mon Jun 16, 2008 9:27 pm    Post subject: Re: [solved]phpbbh3 in sub folder+joomla seo=404 error

Just put the phpBB rewriterules right after :

Code:
#RewriteBase /

starting from where you did (without repeating RewriteEngine On ...).

Joomla's rewriterules are just catching all possible urls, so phpBB ones are not even touched.

Since you forum seems installed in a sub dir, you could as well consider hitting the more option option in the .hatccess generator, and then select alternate location to generate a .htaccess meant ot be used in the forum/ dir.

[solved]phpbbh3 in sub folder+joomla seo=404 errorPosted: Sat Aug 23, 2008 1:24 pm    Post subject: Ok I tried this solution also

I renamed distribution folder name to forum, disabled auth plugins for joomla and phpBB, deleted bridge folder. IN phpBB server configuration, entered the new script path and merged .htaccess both Joomla and phpBB exactly like the example here.

Please see htaccess now

The easiest would be to generate an .htaccess meant to be used in pca/forum/ directly, you can do so using the "more option" option of the .htaccess generator, and then alternate location.

This way you'll be able to have a separate .htaccess for joomla and phpBB3.

I ran into these issues yesterday but before I make these changes, I just wanted to be sure that the url

mysite.com/general (my general forum)

will still work and not be moved to mysite.com/forum/general as a result of the .htaccess location change...

thanks

Assuming you're using the virtual root option to use url such as example.com/forum-url/ when phpBB is installed in a sud dir, you must put your .htaccess at the domain's root level.

Otherwise, as you stated, your url will need to include the forum directory.

well, my forum is located at site.com/forum

as i said before, my general forum is now located at site.com/general

I have the joomla problem as well... I just want to make sure that if i designate the .htaccess file to be at /forum/.htaccess my general forum will still be located at site.com/general...
