Not Working without any 404 ErrorsPosted: Sun Aug 24, 2008 1:50 am    Post subject: Not Working without any 404 Errors

I have just applied this mod. Everything worked well without any problem upto installation and .htaccess appliation. I have used it in the folder /community instead of root.

Now when I enable this mod it doesnt rewrite my urls and also doesnt give any 404 errors but redirect to the original urls (not rewritten but default phpbb3 ones).

As .htaccess is not in root it I commented #RewriteEngine On as there is no need to start engine again, but it also doesnt work with again restarting the engine as a matter of fact. (with out commenting restart engine in community folder where phpbb 3.0.2 is installed)

What could be the problem I doesnt understand. My host provides .htaccess editor instead of uploading direct .htaccess files to the specified folders, is there any problem with this kind of service?

I'd leave it still.

If you want an .htaccess meant to be used in the sub dir where phpBB is installed, you need to use the "more options" option in the .htaccess generator, and then, the alternate location one, the red bold message should then tell you to implement the .htaccess in the sub dir.

Your host's .htaccess editor should not cause problems, if mod rewrite is activated of course Wink
