Google seems to have picked up my sitemap but its still not listing my pages.
Anyone know the best config settings to get google to list my site? |

Sorry about that.

I have already added the meta mod and the sitemap mod.
Do you have any tips on a good configuration to help improve my chances of listing higher? |

What you need now is more content, preferably on added on regular basis (even if not too often), this is required for your forum success both for bots and users.
Then, a mistake you did with your robots.txt probably saved you some effort, you did not set the proper path :
| Quote: | User-agent: *
Disallow: /phpbb/viewtopic.php
Disallow: /phpbb/viewforum.php
Disallow: /phpbb/index.php?
Disallow: /phpbb/posting.php
Disallow: /phpbb/search.php?
Disallow: /phpbb/ucp.php
Disallow: /phpbb/mcp.php
Disallow: /phpbb/post
Disallow: /phpbb/member
Disallow: /phpbb/memberlist.php
Disallow: /phpbb/faq.php |
with the phpbb/ path (wich is not where your forum is installed, it failed to disallow the natural url indexing :
http://www.google.com/search?q=site:www.forums.lbp-community.co.uk
But as said, it's a good thing, since you are not supposed to implement the robots.txt directly when your forum previously was indexed under different urls :
| install wrote: | __________________
NOTE: robots.txt :
__________________
You will find a sample robots.txt file in the contrib/ folder of this package.
The robots.txt file must be uploaded in your domain's root folder (can be different from the phpBB one).
You must obviously replace phpbb/ with your real phpBB installation folder (or with nothing if it's installed in the domain's root).
IMPORTANT :
If your forum previously was indexed with the natural urls (viewtopic.php etc...), then you must make sure
that the robots.txt advised for our mod rewrite is not installed, if so delete it from the server.
This because we want to redirect old urls before we disallow them, it's crucial!
In such case, a month or two after you activated the zero duplicate, you can safely implement the robots.txt. |
So you now need to install / activate the zero duplicate mod, and then wait more or less two month before you implement the correct robots.txt.
