importance of yahoo directory and DMOZ

hello again

i read and heard a lot about importance of this two directories
i dont now how much they are important but i tried to register my site in this two directory
i couldn't submit my site in yahoo directory .
i think yahoo directory doesn't have any part for persian sites

and DMOZ
i submit my forum 2 week ago but theyhave not add my site to directory
how many time users must wait until their site accepted by dmoz

They are very important, DMOZ being the directory to submit in for every body.

You won't necessarily be listed as DMOZ is moderated, but if your site gets accepted, your Ranking will be pushed a bit. It's just the number one directory after all, and the editors are maintaining good quality as they review all web sites, so it's Gold for search engines as they have reliable info to find in it, and thus for us two.

Dmoz is thus in itself a very hot topic, as editor take more or less time to accept sites, they sometime get on the webmaster's nerves. So it's something to well prepare as it can take up to 6 month before you get an answer.
So you'd better be sure of the category your choose and the description you have made. Of course do not submit under construction web sites Wink

But a DMOZ submission is very useful, so we should all if not do it, try to do it.

Then, the yahoo directory is just as important as Google's, actually you should work on submitting you site in all major search engines directories you'll find.

Time will come when we'll have had enough time to start listing all those of great interest here and such.

Do not hesitate to present us any directory you find cool in your findings Wink

but i think DMOZ doesn't have any persian editor
my friend submited their site near one year ago but their sites are not listed in dmoz

and yahoo
a couldnt find any part for submiting a persian site

Then this is another problem obviously linked to Internet being so English Speaking.

Actually I am quite surprised with their Country list, never noticed before.
With Azerbaijani, Arabi, Armenian and Kurdî they could have gone up to Persian I think.

Then, I am not sure about what would be the closest language, the one you could expect an editor to understand Persian as well, if what I say isn't stupid (you said there was similarities with Arabic, but this does not mean an Arabic editor would be able to review your site).

Otherwise, I guess you could try becoming yourself an editor, I am sure this would not be easy nor fast, but there is a lake, and Persian Internet seem to be growing quite fast now, so there is as well a need.
A long run, but very good for you if you are the one to have opened a new regional directory in DMOZ Wink

But this is not something you can do without knowing it will be 1) hard to become and editor from scratch, but not impossible and 2) even harder as you are here willing to build a new regional category, being the top of all (as you know, DMOZ editors have to last before they get to moderate more general categories).

But, this could be something to think of, Persian net wise, and could as well be a collective initiative, many people writing to ask for the same thing, but no spam, will have more weight.
In all case you should take great care writing to them.

As well, a cool thing would be why not creating Persian directories yourself, I mean if there is a lake ...

Then, for other directories, you can still try to submit out of the Persian categories, if there are now Persian Categories, just use the English ones and put an English description telling after all your site is Persian.

I mean, it's obvious some will be refused, but some won't.
Bots will still get to associates keywords, even in English, but we know you have English keywords as well, with your web site.

the DMOZ has a part for persian sites with name farsi

farsi is arabic of parsi

arabs don't have any character with sound "p" in their language. parsi is a persian word.
persian is english word for parsi Razz

google and all other site and companies used word farsi in their site and softwares. persian internet users started to tell big sites and companies to use word parsi instead of farsi

I have submitted to DMOZ several times over the last two years and I have messaged the editors but without so much as a single reply. I have checked DMOZ and found that many of my competitors sies are listed in there and yet mine is not.

I am beginning to think that perhaps the editors of my category are the owners of the competing sites and so they will ensure that I don't get listed!

It is most annoying when you do not even get so much as a response!
