How many replies per topic page for SEO optimized pages?

I was thinking this: What about setting 25 replyes per topic in ACP? or may be 10?

If whe coose only 10 we will have a lot more paginated topic pages, that means more URLS to search engines to crawl. But more tardeted pages? or will be the opposite? we will be penalized for having so many pages with almost the same URL (Because the pagination injection in url)?

Wich number can benefit our forums big numbers or small numbers?

It depends.
I personally think 25 is a good number, not too many pages, and not too big pages.

If you go for example up to 50 post per pages, then, each page will host too much content, but you don't want too many pages as well.

Anyway, I'll soon release a title enhancement for phpBB which will allow our pagination to be indexed very well : 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 ...
