|

Hello
I think that it would be a good idea if we shared our adsense tricks here.
Things like where You put Your adsense ads and what the site-CTR is.
I only have adsense at my main domain.
It is an infosite with a forum so I will split my experience in forum and infosite.
The revenue is much better at the infosite than the forum.
I think that it is hard to get forumusers to click ads.
I am using 2 adsense codes at my mainsite.
A big one just under the logo with 4 links and a small one with 2 textlinks which is placed in the text.
Site-CTR for logo is: two times smaller than the one for the Site-CTR for text in % (based on june)
So its obvios that the best placement for me is inside text.
I will provide a link because it is much easier than explaining.
It is in danish so You problably wont understand anything, but You can see where I placed the ads: http://www.stokerpiller.dk
Then there is my forum, it has been very hard to invite the users to click on my google ads
It is placed here: http://www.stokerpiller.dk/phpbb2/forum.html
As You can see I use a very simple adsense code just under the navigation.
I have learnt that this one gives 3-4 times more than the BIG one I had earlier.
Site-CTR: is less than 10% of the Site-CTR for text (based on june)
I also place adsense in the topics. One after the first post and one after the last post (if more than 3 posts in the topic)
I have not been working with this one.
Site-CTR: is comparable to the navigation one (based on june)
As You can see the site-CTR is much bigger at my infosite.
Therefore my best advice is to create an infoside with a lot of info about the topic(s) You have in Your forum.
Ads on sites like that, pays much more that forum ads. |

Interesting, and pretty much covering most of the topic actually. Of course, there can be some small variation, but I think that in most cases, forum provides with less clicks than a more static site, and the choices you made for the add format are pretty good.
Now, there is a problem with adsense, while subscribing you as well agree with being quiet about your stats. We can compare one add to another, but we are not supposed to provide with any precise data.
I'm of course not giving my personal view here, it's pretty obvious that we here decide to share pretty much all about SEO, but I prefer to remind this to you since I would not like to see your adsense account closed for life just because of that.
So I removed the CTRs, it's up to you to find a better way to still provide with usable info, I just used multiples so that we can still compare the adds between each other.
This being said, the phpBB SEO adds data are comparable, the directories do provide with a lot more cliks than the forum. It's more or less paying for the server's rental right now ...
I did not try the text title only adds as you did in the header yet, but your experience here could be worth a try

Thanks for removing this data about CTR, I didn't know that I wasn't allowed to share tis information by google.
But the point is still clear though.
Dont Use border and background color that is screaming ADD!!
Implement them so they are natural content.
Also people should do some more experimenting with the type of ads.
Where You place them isnt all.
My experiment with the "text title only adds"
It is brilliant because people get curious and then they are more willing to do the cliick
I would be glad to hear from others with stories about adsense
Maybe there is more money to earn out there |
