Hello all phpBB SEO readers
I work for Google UK in there British office and have just discovered something very bad which I must tell you even if it gets me fired
If your site is written in English but not hosted in the USA then this will hurt you
Google engineers in the USA have now put in there latest index programming change to target spam. Because most spam sites are written in English but hosted outside the USA in places like Hong Kong India Canada and New Zealand Google are weighting all web sites written in English but NOT hosted within the USA to go right to the end of the search results.
If you have a .net .com .us or .com domain --- regional domains such as .fr are not affected ------- with english language content and you are hosted in a country like Australia you are fucked. You are now on page 800,000 of the search results
Google engineers say this is to take out spam but a friend of mine from the Uk now working in the main USA office of Google has told me that the Google management are under pressure from US politicians to favour businesses based in their voting district ---- the USA
Bad luck dude and happy christmas from Google. |

Well, that's big.
I really wish I could tell this is just not true right away and feel fully satisfied with it, but I have to admit it would have been easier without this paid link controversial going on as well.
I still cannot see the obvious difference between a paid link and a paid add on the Internet. The fact some adds are using JS and others html seems totally senseless if we think about this very basic principle : free competition in a free market.
Of course we need rules, but we are not talking about spammers here, just regular advertisement business like it is on www.phpbb.com for example.
So what you claim here could fit in the same type of "craziness". If it comes true, it would be really sad, because the Internet actually allowed people from many countries to share and exchange freely.
Such a practice would tend to close every country on itself, at least, talking about the Internet, and that would be a bit sad IMHO, really far from what made the web until now and to which Google participated quite a lot too actually.
So we must stay calm, and wait and see.
googyblower, it looks like you have as well posted here http://www.v7n.com/forums/google-forum/73480-google-dance-just-stepped-your-feet.html
pretty much the same post, it's not a straight copy, but this only does not means much either.
Anyway, we should soon see how it goes on phpBB SEO.
It's hosted in France, and we in the end made it to the first place in the English world searching for phpBB+SEO : http://www.google.com/search?q=phpbb+seo&hl=en
So far so good.
I'm just not sure if I should wish you good luck not to loose your job, or if I'm just standing on the limit where one more step would mean you tricked me
I hope you understand my necessary doubts. |

Well, googyblower you posted several more time since you posted here :
http://www.searchguild.com/tpage31650-0.html
http://groups.google.com/group/SEO1/browse_thread/thread/c6b2cf5e1a56fe12
and each time you do not give any more clues and do not reply after your first post.
To me this means you're not really interested into more than spreading a hear say.
Why posting without replying after if it's not the case ?
Or, you're indeed working at Google, but your officially working on hear say and buzz spreading on the Internet |

Hello phpBB SEO Group
Forgive the lateness of reply and aceept my word this is not spam
The UK office at Google is in uproar as my last post has been reported back to the senior managers and they are searching very hard for me now
Losing my job will be certain if they find me
I have been posting this information all over the internet to see how they will try to find me but Google are still planning to give favour to USA ISPs to fight back against spam and porn and the other evils of the web
I agree this is terrible news for sites owned by legitimate .com, .org and .net owners which are not based directly in America
You will see the search results from Google showing this change in the index from now
Time to start using Live.com do they have any jobs for me ???????? |

Man, if what you say is true, start searching for a new job, because, they will find you.
Actually, I saw you posted from Internet Cafes and public places, but what about a googlemail.com email account ? Is it really possible that they do not know who is using the email account ? That they do not close it right now ?
Is Google this huge it became some kind of administration nightmare, up to not be able to close a mail account they host ?
I'm giving no information here, mails are not public on phpBB SEO, but, it's not the case on the other places you posted so, I assume Google knows about it now.
Again, I'm not very sure what to think, what you say really is big, and would have some major impact on the Internet. Could Google be this wrong they start to hit many good site on the head just to fight against spammer ?
So, what else now ?
I think we need proof, and you need to carefully prepare yourself for a new job, the question that remains opened is, will this new job be dealing with you being fired, or you starting your own buzz company after success in starting a memorable one
I'm still doubting, I'm still ready to listen for more, just like I was at first actually.
So, more than words, facts would help now. |

I don't know if we can talk about a real sign right now, but it looks rather obvious that some update is going on right now on the us servers.
http://www.google.com/search?q=phpbb+seo&hl=en only has 985,000 matching pages, and it use to have quite more.
To be compared with the french results http://www.google.fr/search?q=phpBB+SEO&hl=fr : 3 200 000 matching results.
Another weird thing is, the search query is case sensitive some how, http://www.google.com/search?q=phpBB+SEO&hl=en returns 629,000 matches where the lower case version returned 985,000 matches.
Since it's as well the case in the french index, but here, the lower case gets the fewer results :http://www.google.fr/search?q=phpbb+seo&hl=fr gives 1 090 000, to be compared with the 3 200 000 matches returned with the upper cased query bellow.
I don't think the case sensitive matter could be this related to the the drop in matching results observed, but it's the first time I notice such a difference.
Now, concerning the drop in the amount of matches, it could be a sign that google is dropping many site right now, but, since phpBB SEO is still on the first page, I assume the filter applied is a bit more sophisticated than just dropping foreign IPs.
We though need to see how it goes to find out if this is not only a temporary side effect of some regular update process, and to have more examples of such moves if any.
Time will tell ... |
