I have been researching my competitors on google and realize that the one that have twice or more my traffic uses a tag cloud mod in their forums.
Can this have a heavy impact in rankings. How this tag cloud works. Can i define my prefered tags?
What are your opinions on this?

Tag clouds can help both users and search engines to find content in a web site.
Besides, they create many pages (better than profiles IMHO).
The most common issue with these is that they use the web site search function, and that search result pages can be a lot heavier to load than the regular ones, so it can end up costing you quite some server resources.
I doubt that using tag could could lead to SE penalization, especially if we take into account the fact that many good site are using them, but, I think that they should load fast, should not output links to search queries without results (usually it's not the case but) and should be related to the current pages content (not the same top list again and again on many pages).

| What about a dinamic tag cloud, can be implemented with the use of dynamic meta tags mod that we have already. With an aditional table we can select the prefered tags and the tags to avoid. It would be usefull? |

really i like tag clouds so much and i hope dcz do it
i read many articlecs on internet about it but iam not official to do it at my forum yet

It can increase the visit form gust and spiders .
