How to check number of cached pages in Google

Hi, I have seen many people talking about " I hv so many pages cached in Google". I understand number of pages indexed but how do u check number of pages cached ?

There is not any easy method I know to do this.

A good way to get an idea of the number of cached pages is to search for you site, using the site:www.phpbb-seo.com command, and to go to the last page, which today gives us 568 cached pages for 1 290 URLs indexed.

To go further, we can take as well a look at the omitted results, but the chances URLs not cached will show up in the list before the last page, thus perturbing the counting, are greater.
If we follow our example here, it gives 1000 cached pages out of 1290.

And to tell you the truth, this does not even mean for sure that the other pages are not in cache, but still, this is giving us a good idea of the page being taken into account and how.

The better ones are outside the omitted results, then comes the omitted, then what's left.

One more thing. Does having more cached pages mean better ranking or better reach ?
Secondly, I hv 1270 indexed pages but only 117 cached pages. Why is there such a huge difference ?

The difference is most likely to come from robots.txt exclusions not to have always been the same.

Are the uncached link disallowed ?

If so, they should slowly vanish from the list and let the correct URL be spidered instead.

Many php scripts outputs a lot of duplicates links, for phpBB it's more than 15 per topic page, so you imagine the difference it can make if your post URLs where previously cached and are now disallowed to let the correct one, the topic URLs, to be cached instead.

Then, for sure, the most cached pages, the better, but without duplicates. You're web-site will look "smaller" (it isn't really any bigger with many dupe, but can look like it) according to the number of cached page without any duplicates, but you'll show in better position in Search Engines Results and will get a better PageRank on the deeper pages as well.

So you mean the pages that are not cached are the ones restricted by robots.txt ??
Or is it that Google has indexed the pages but is taking time to cache since these pages are newly indexed ?
The reason I am asking this is bcos my robots.txt doesnt restrict many of these pages.

Well, all I see on your forum listing is : only pages being disallowed by the robots.txt are not cached.

Generally speaking, pages allowed could still remain uncached, but usualy, it still aplly to page being redirected or to pages with no content (login form etc ...) and a lot less often to real good pages, unless something is really wrong in the code or content.

You can always do this. In a google search bar imput this. Replace "yoursite.com" with your actual site's url

allinurl:yoursite.com site:www.yoursite.com
