So, I'm not sure to fully get the issue here, maybe you just need to properly implement the GYM sitemaps rewriterules in your .htaccess to be able to use the rewrittent sitemaps links (the forum ones are, as you can see, already properly rewritten).

The first error message you had could be due to the gs_style/ dir not to be uploaded where rss.php and sitemap.php are.

Now that you have deactivated style, the sitemap displays, but like if it was a text file, despite the proper header sent :

This is no big deal, but. Make sure you did not had any spaces at the end of the mod's files just in case. Could be it. ...

im not sure how to install the gym sitemap. i saw the instructions , but it has lot of if's and but's ....

im not sure wht to do and where to start from. i have no knowledge of codes and http rewrite rules etc

im told this will help in getting more pages ...

Well, it just looks like safari does not want to be tricked like IE and FF with RSS feed styling.

You get pretty much the same result with FF and IE if you do not force styling (eg add 500 white spaces at the beginning of the RSS feed).

Ho I see, you are not using any mod rewrite on your forum and you installed the meta tag mod wich uses a simple version of the phpbb_seo class in standalone mode, that's why.

So, instead, add :

Well, it's only because the source is the feed according to the RSS standards : http://feedvalidator.org/docs/rss2.html#ltsourcegtSubelementOfLtitemgt

You can of course change this, you'll have to open ggs_style/mxrss2.xml and do it from there.

The up coming GYM sitemaps module for phpBB3 will use a dynamic xslt style-sheet system in order to prevent this type of hard coding.

It's normal to see urls such as phpBB2/sitemap.php?forum=xx, these are not url to your forums, but url to your forum sitemaps, listing topics url.

That's how the mods works, sitemap.php is your sitemapindex, and it's only listing the available sitemaps, not content from the forum.

The mod will automatically create and maintain one sitemap per forum and one sitemap listing all the forum urls.

Then, I'm not sure about your second message, moving the sitemap.php ...

You can name the list as you want, the example is only here to show that you need "url_" at the beginning and ".txt" at the end.
As well, the name should only be composed of a to z characters, hyphens ("-") and underscores ("_").

Should be url_gamelist.txt for example.

With this name, you should have a new sitemap showing up, gamelist-gt.xml with mod rewrite or sitemap.php?gamelist without.

Naming is here independent from the folder ...

2.14 is supported by the phpBB SEO simple mod rewrite 0.0.2 so far, so no it isn't supported by GYM sitemaps, but should not be this much of a big deal to fix the output, especially if you know some coding.

About the forums urls, really easy, just take a look at the $this->mod_r_config array in ggs_functions.php, you'll find :

I had actually put the files in the new template folder but I did so when my FTP program was giving me fits and it didn't update... then when I went and replaced all the files later, to be sure they transfered, I only did the subsilver template and forgot about the new one.

Well, I'm not sure a mod should bypass the phpBB settings as far as error reporting.

It is generally advised to turn them off on live domains, at the server level, and to deal directly with error logs instead.

But you can as well turn them off for all the forum in common.php :

Well, you would not miss much if you'd wait let's say 10, or even 20 minutes before you clear cache. As HB said this most likely mean you'll get fresh datas every 5 or ten minutes in our example, which already allow you to moderate quite fast.

I'm not sure it would be worth is to build up cache for only one or two calls to the cached file between two cache regenerations.

Well yes, that's the whole point about cache and the auto regeneration option in acp, if set to yes (which is the common setting), every time the cache will be outdated when a request is sent, it will be regenerated and the updated content will be sent.

Mod since option is an extra check performed differently if you use or not the physical cache on the server.

You can install both, actually, they are both useful.

Gym sitemaps will build xml Google sitemaps, rss feeds and yahoo urllist.txt (useful (very) for indexing), and mx sitemaps a regular html sitemap (useful for pagerank transmission and indexing).

About you other rss mod, chances are very little you'll need any other rss mod after you'll see all the possibilities of the gym rss module
Especially SEO wise.

And yes, we plan to add RSS ...

well, www.phpbb-seo.com/sitemaps.xml.gz is the module sitemapindex, if you follow links in it, you'll find the topic links.

That's how the standard works, a sitemapindex listing sitemaps.
Each sitemap can list up to 50 000 urls. Only the sitemapIdex needs to be submitted for all sitemaps to be used by bots.

About plug-ins, you'll understand better soon.

The idea is this mod will allow extended support on other mods.
We'll provide "plug-ins" you'll just need to upload in the mx_ggsitemaps/includes/ folder to see them working.
Will be useful to include extended sitemaps and rss feeds for modules like smartor album or kb.

The fact you're not trying the good url

You need to load your domain url with the path to your sitemap.php file, and the rewritten links will only work when you'll have implemented the rewriterules as suggested in the install.
