[BUG] User authentification failure for GYM and RSSPosted: Mon Aug 25, 2008 11:24 pm    Post subject: [BUG] User authentification failure for GYM and RSS

Hi,

I finished translation for GYM&RSS addon, and I noticed the following:

I have a problem with GYM and RSS because the modules don't remember the logged in user and his language. In the right side of navbar I see Register link instead of logout link, but in board index I am logged in. This Register link is not working, it just redirects to board index.

So the issue here is that GYM and RSS don't know anything anout user status (logged in/logged out).

I hope someone to confirm this issue, while I fight with a malware virus in my computer that might cause this...

Otherwise I hope this issue to be fixed soon,
Danny

Well, it's not really the case. What happens is that xsl templates are not really dynamic, they are generated on the fly to be adapted to the installation settings (domain, paths) and languages, but they are then cached and do not change upon each call.

So there is no online / offline state in these. The links in header are for example staying the same in all cases.

So you cannot rely on the header to find out about the logged in state, try a private forum's feed for example, and you'll see that the mod is using auth, thus logged in state for real.

So in this case I should edit RSS template files (xsl and others) to remove that part of code.

My concern is about feeds available only for registered users that could be confused about the fact that in RSS feed page his auth status is mode login.

Well, there is a custom message for private feeds, telling that the feed is private, and according to wich user the authorisations where processed.
Admins even get the explain debug link in case debug is activated Wink

But yes, you can delete these links in the templates, we just though a register link would increase the probability one would actually register that's all Wink
