WORKS but mod rewrite issue (phpbb2plus) :(Posted: Sat Jan 12, 2008 7:59 am    Post subject: WORKS but mod rewrite issue (phpbb2plus) :(

Hi there.

I've installed this mod without problem.

The sitemaps create following: viewtopic.php?t=509810

But my forum, which has the standard phpbb2 plus 1.53 mod rewrite(short-url) activated, uses this rewrite: ftopic34524.html

and for forums my rewrite has these urls: forum82,FreeDebate.html

How do i make these sitemaps show these shorturls instead of default viewtopic.php?"....

the standard url works and leads to the thread, but the url is not what my forum shows and that would look weird on google.

Some one help me out?

Thanks

Well. . . My two cents; you are using another system of SEO on your board- which the GYM sitemaps does not work with ( seo wise ) at least not that I am aware of.
at this point, you have a better chance asking support where you got your SEO Board from.

Or... you can enjoy the great MODs and patches that are Available for phpbb-seo's Advanced, Mixed and Simple Rewrite SEO, plus great support.
[/end my two cents]

WORKS but mod rewrite issue (phpbb2plus) :(Posted: Sun Jan 13, 2008 12:56 am    Post subject: Re: WORKS but mod rewrite issue (phpbb2plus) :(

Thanks for your reply

Oh.. But this rewrite url i got on my site, is default inbuild with plus 1.53. Im amazed that of all these users using this great sitemap mod, no one is using this inbuild shorturl function.
Its just a matter of how the sitemaps show the urls really. So shouldn't it be able to edit in htaccess or sitemap.php somehow? So that it shows ftopic instead of viewtopic ?

Because since it points to the same thread on the board, its just a matter of how the sitemap writes the url..

No chance getting this to work ?

Unfortunately, it looks like the url standard your are using will require some code change, some would only need config editing, but since this one uses the id before the title.

So, could you additonally post an example of topic url with and without pagination, and same for forum ones ?

Hi dcz

Thanks for your reply.

Oh I see.

Heres an example of topic:
-http://mysite.com/v1/phpBB2/ftopic509872.html

example of forum:
-http://mysite.com/v1/phpBB2/forum87,tv-oversigt.html

Im not sure what you mean by pagination, would that be like this?:
-http://mysite.com/v1/phpBB2/fpost148140.html#148140

Hope you can use this, would be awesome if this could be figured out. Would be great for us plus 1.53 boarders Smile

Thanks for your time

WORKS but mod rewrite issue (phpbb2plus) :(Posted: Sun Jan 13, 2008 11:15 pm    Post subject: Re: WORKS but mod rewrite issue (phpbb2plus) :(

Pagination would be the url of page 2 of a topic and forum.

So, the topic urls are easier to handle, at least without pagination.

Tell me more about the page 2's link and I'll provide some code Wink

WORKS but mod rewrite issue (phpbb2plus) :(Posted: Wed Jan 16, 2008 9:57 am    Post subject: Re: WORKS but mod rewrite issue (phpbb2plus) :(

All right. I'm though wondering about the pagination. Are the extra sorting param always used in the paginated links ?

The "-0" for forums and "-0-asc" for topics ?

Because I don't want to build duplicate here.

Besides, here is what to do for the non paginated links :

Code:
#
#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#

mx_ggsitemaps/includes/google_forum.php

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

      $forum_url = $this->path_config['phpbb_url'] . (($this->mod_r_config['forum_pre'] !='') ? $this->mod_r_config['forum_pre'] . $forum_id . $this->mod_r_config['ext'] : $forum_url_ok . $phpbb_seo->seo_delim['forum'] .  $forum_id . $phpbb_seo->seo_ext['forum']);

#
#-----[ REPLACE WITH ]------------------------------------------
#

      $forum_url = $this->path_config['phpbb_url'] . 'forum' . $forum_id . ',' . $forum_url_ok . '.html' ;

#
#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#

mx_ggsitemaps/includes/rss_forum.php

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

         $forum_url = $this->path_config['phpbb_url'] . (($this->mod_r_config['forum_pre'] !='') ? $this->mod_r_config['forum_pre'] . $forum_id : $forum_name_ok . $phpbb_seo->seo_delim['forum'] . $forum_id .  $phpbb_seo->seo_ext['forum']);

#
#-----[ REPLACE WITH ]------------------------------------------
#

         $forum_url = $this->path_config['phpbb_url'] . 'forum' . $forum_id . ',' . $forum_name_ok . '.html';

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

      $item_opt[$forum_id]['forum_url'] = $this->path_config['phpbb_url'] . ( ($this->mod_r_config['forum_pre'] !='') ? $this->mod_r_config['forum_pre'] . $forum_id : $item_opt[$forum_id]['forum_name_ok'] . $phpbb_seo->seo_delim['forum'] .  $forum_id . $phpbb_seo->seo_ext['forum'] );

#
#-----[ REPLACE WITH ]------------------------------------------
#

      $item_opt[$forum_id]['forum_url'] = $this->path_config['phpbb_url'] . 'forum' . $forum_id . ',' .  $item_opt[$forum_id]['forum_name_ok'] . '.html';

#
#-----[ OPEN ]------------------------------------------
#

mx_ggsitemaps/includes/ggs_functions.php

#
#-----[ FIND ]------------------------------------------
#

            'topic' => 'topic',

#
#-----[ REPLACE WITH ]------------------------------------------
#
            'topic' => 'ftopic',

#
#-----[ SAVE/CLOSE ALL FILES ]------------------------------------------
#
# EoM

In acp, select simple or mixed mode (not the advanced since it would inject topic titles) and you should be good Wink

I'll provide the pagination code change when I'll be sure about paginated links, until then, you can use the sitemap and rss feeds if you deactivate pagination (it's no big deal anyway).

A link to your site would help.

WORKS but mod rewrite issue (phpbb2plus) :(Posted: Wed Jan 16, 2008 11:34 am    Post subject: Re: WORKS but mod rewrite issue (phpbb2plus) :(

Well I did it witout the pagination, since its only regarding the sitemap Razz

First it worked but showed the topic urls as: phpBB2/topic506722.html with the f before topic(ftopic)

And I rechecked the 'topic' => 'ftopic', in gg_functions.
.

Then I refreshed couple of times and tried with simple, now the sitemap.pho doesnt work? phpBB2/sitemap.php (i belive you have the url Smile )

I tried to delete cache and still same access error now.

Thanks

*UPDATE*

The Sitemap.php somehow works now . So the only issue is the forum urls are wrong: madopskrifter-gf67.xml. and it leads to a "not found" page

You can try go to my sitemap.php

WORKS but mod rewrite issue (phpbb2plus) :(Posted: Wed Jan 16, 2008 2:24 pm    Post subject: Re: WORKS but mod rewrite issue (phpbb2plus) :(

So, you're in the case where the xml display as text despite the fact that the correct header is sent :

Code:
Content-Type: text/xml; charset=UTF-8

It's no big deal, the sitemap is still valid, but you do not see the xml tree.

Then, about the 404, you just need to implement the module rewriterules in your .htaccess as explained in the install, this part does not change for phpBB2plus.

About the ftopic thing, the find was a bit unclear, you need to find :
Code:

         $this->seo_static = array('cat' => 'cat',
            'forum' => 'forum',
            'topic' => 'topic',

and replace it with :

Code:
         $this->seo_static = array('cat' => 'cat',
            'forum' => 'forum',
            'topic' => 'ftopic',

So far, the mod is working : -http://islamic.dk/v1/phpBB2/sitemap.php?forum=67
-http://islamic.dk/v1/phpBB2/sitemap.php?forum

but url are not rewritten as they should with the above code changes. Make sure you modded the google_forum.php file proper and clear the module's cache (you have a link in ACP) as well as your browser's one before you retry.

For pagination, too bad your forum is outputting so many pagination duplicate, but ho well, will still be good to display them in the sitemaps, we'll figure how after we'll have successfully dealt with regular ones Wink

WORKS but mod rewrite issue (phpbb2plus) :(Posted: Wed Jan 16, 2008 3:20 pm    Post subject: Re: WORKS but mod rewrite issue (phpbb2plus) :(

Thanks for reply.

well it got way better now hehe.

On: http://www.islamic.dk/v1/phpBB2/sitemap.php?forum=67 it shows all the topics with correct url rewrite.

The ONLY thing not working right now is the url rewrite for the forums on the sitemap.php

on http://islamic.dk/v1/phpBB2/sitemap.php the urls for the different forum xml's are wrong.

And I've pasted following code at the bottom of my htaccess in /phpBB2 root:
Code:
#########################################################
# GYM SITEMAPS AND RSS REWRITE RULES         #
#########################################################
# AUTHOR : dcz http://www.phpbb-seo.com/
# STARTED : 2006/02/22
########################
# RSS main
RewriteRule ^rss-?(l|s)?-?(m)?\.(xml(\.gz)?)$ /rss.php?$1&$2 [L]
# RSS forums
RewriteRule ^forums-rss-?(l|s)?-?(m)?\.(xml(\.gz)?)$ /rss.php?forum&c&$1&$2 [L]
# RSS all
RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9_-]+)-rss([0-9]*)-?(l|s)?-?(m)?\.(xml(\.gz)?)$ /rss.php?$1=$2&$3&$4 [L]
# RSS forum topics
RewriteRule ^.+-rf([0-9]+)-?(l|s)?-?(m)?\.(xml(\.gz)?)$ /rss.php?forum=$1&$2&$3 [L]
# SitemapIndex
RewriteRule ^sitemaps\.(xml(\.gz)?)$ /sitemap.php [L]
# Sitemap modules
RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9_-]+)-sitemap\.(xml(\.gz)?)$ /sitemap.php?$1 [L]
# Forum Sitemaps
RewriteRule ^.+-gf([0-9]+)\.(xml(\.gz)?)$ /sitemap.php?forum=$1 [L]
# Yahoo! urllist.txt
RewriteRule ^urllist\.(txt(\.gz)?)$ /urllist.php [L]
#########################################################
# END GYM SITEMAPS AND RSS REWRITE RULES      #
#########################################################

What can cost that issue?

Thanks

The forum url on sitemap.php which is incorrect in my case, is it absolutly important for it to be correct, in order for google to catch it?

WORKS but mod rewrite issue (phpbb2plus) :(Posted: Wed Jan 16, 2008 4:34 pm    Post subject: Re: WORKS but mod rewrite issue (phpbb2plus) :(

are you sure about the rewriterules ?

Because url like -http://www.islamic.dk/v1/phpBB2/fri-debat-gf2.xml and -http://www.islamic.dk/v1/phpBB2/sitemaps.xml

should work with these. May be a slash issue. Could you post your phpBB's .htaccess ?

And you're confusing about the links shown on sitemap.php, it's a sitemapindex listing all the available sitemaps, -http://www.islamic.dk/v1/phpBB2/fri-debat-gf2.xml is not a forum url, it's the url of the forum with id = 2 sitemap.
