Modification to output last X posts from board?

Hello,

My current RSS feed displays the latest posts from the forum. I would like to have similar functionality with this RSS feed MOD, but this feed output is not the same, since this RSS feed only displays last / first posts from individual topics.

This means that if a thread gets two new posts during caching period, the other one never appears in the RSS feed. This is not acceptable for me, since I use the feed to moderate my board, and I need to read through all the messages.

So, my question is, how big an effort would it be to implement a new action p, which would output X number of latest posts.

I can write this stuff myself using the existing code. I just need to know, what parts are essential to accomplish this. Any ideas?

Well, the whole point about this module is it's only dealing with topic urls, not posts.

SEO wise it's a big improvement to only output our best links.

And, it's not like you'll miss this many thing, as you pointed out, the module can miss posts in between two updates, but, if there is a new last post, it means the thread was updated, so following the link will still show you how much it was updated.

I as well though this would encourage our user to come visit our boards rather than only following topics through RSS.

Now technically, adding post feeds can be done, but it will be heavy if you want to output the last x post from all forums with topic urls, as it would not make much sens either to reintroduce what we got rid of : post urls.

What could be done would be to add an extra level of feeds, topic feeds, listing all posts from a given topic.

Anyway, RC3 will not, but it will already introduce authorisation, things are going forward Wink
