Imagine you walked into a huge ballroom. Among the hundreds of tables are perhaps 10-20 people, milling about. Would you want to stay? Now imagine yourself walking into a small local bar. There are perhaps 10-20 people there, chatting amiably and socializing. Would you want to stay? Which description more accurately matches your board?

Language isn't the issue here. My point, if it isn't obvious, is that this board has a long list of empty forums. Based on the titles, they cover a wide range of unrelated or loosely related subjects. Focus... the site needs focus.. If web visitors can't figure out what a site is about in less than one minute, they're gone.

Here's my practical tip: Create no more than 3-4 forums. Once a given forum has 100+ threads on a specific subject, consider splitting them off to another forum IF it has lasting discussion value. Don't make the mistake of using forums to organize a mismash of topics. |
