combining two forums

Is it possible to combine two forums?

If for instance I had a phpbb forum and bought another forum would it be possible to import all the members and posts from one forum and combine them all into one large forum?

Would it be possible if one of the forums was not phpbb?

I have seen some forum software that can import users from any other type of forum software, but I am not sure if it is possible with phpbb!
