Topic Tags MOD?Posted: Tue Oct 23, 2007 1:55 pm    Post subject: Topic Tags MOD?

Is there a MOD which adds topic tags to a topic, so that I can add KEYWORDS to topics?

I already have the Dynamic Meta Keyword Mod enabled, but I'd like to supplement that with some keywords people are using to get to my topics from Google and the like.

Is there a MOD for Mods to go in and add keywords to the bottom of a topic through a special keyword box or something for each topic?

I do not know of any, but we already talked a bit about tag clouds.
Of course it could be interesting and why not based on the meta keyword list to make it simple.

On of these day, we'll dev one in case no one does it Wink

I'll be interested in seeing that new Tag cloud mod. Can I help with the development and/or testing in any way?

The simple approach would be to grab the topic keywords grabbed by the dynamic meta tag mod and to build search link with them.

It of course depend on the phpBB version. My guess would be it's worth it for phpBB3.

If you want to dev a bit, I can help you out a bit with the meta tag mod's code . But first, are you really talking about phpBB2 ?

Yes. I run phpBB2 still. Wink

An easier way, since most of my traffic comes from SEs, might be to grab the HTTP_REFERER server variable and parse the keyword string coming from the SEs. I already have my own homegrown Ajax page which shows me real-time searches coming into my site, the keywords used, and the page they ended up on.

It's fun to just sit there and watch it update every 30 seconds with new keywords. Wink

With the phpBB2 meta tag mod, keywords are stored in $phpbb_seo->seo_meta['keywords'] which is accessible just before the header is included.

It's a coma separated list.

You could explode() it, and then build and parse links in a new template variable.

Of course, this implies that you take great care about the quality of your search tables Wink
