I am soon to install a forum for a friend ( I can just about manage to do that with my knowledge )
I was just wondering which version I should install version 2 or version 3
There seems to be more mods for version 2 and so I might go for that.
Thanks in advance for any replies |

I'd personally go for phpBB3 for a new forum.
You should not miss to many mods with it, and if so, they should be close to be released with all the dev going on phpBB3 right now.
Besides, it's time win for you friend to start with phpBB3, since he would not have to first learn phpBB2 and then, learn again phpBB3 once update becomes necessary (because, even far from now, it will).
Saves a future conversion too

Thanks DCZ,
But I am now thinking about transferring all the files from my current site to his and the database and then deleting everything.
This way he will get the mods that have already been installed on my site, that would take weeks to reinstall again.
I asked on phpbb about this and they said that it was fairly easy to do.
If you can forsee any problems with doing this please say.
Thanks
