http://www.ubuntuforums.org has a nice little feature called tagging, for each post. It seems like a good seo feature. Is it really? and is something like it possible for phpBB?

Possible for sure, but how difficult, I don't really know.

The kind of feature cool to add if light to run, because you don't want it to kill your page loading time.

There is an attempt to do so with the BoardTracker Topic Tags Mod, but it's not linking locally, so it's not very interesting SEOwise.

Anyway, it's a good idea, and one of these days, I may start to work on it

But i dont follow you on why that mod wouldnt be good for seo. could you explain it a little more?

Well, I did not try the mod, but it seems it's going to link to tag search on the boardtracker web-site, so it's not as good as adding links to your domain, but it can be a nice feature for users.

how hard do you think it would be to port another tag mod from another forum software?

I cannot tell like this, it depends, but, seeing how other did for another board could save time while trying to make one for phpBB.

yes, one is for vbulletin and the other is for vanilla. I will look for the links again later on today.

Interesting, with a lot of ajax though, which makes the porting more difficult.
I could not test the VB version as I do not run any vb installation.

This could be a nice mod to dev, we'll see who will start coding first.
