The benefits are very simple, many more links to your content.
The thing is Page Ranking also depend of the internal linking structure, so the idea is to have a good amount of links to every page.
Here, you add a link per topic and per forum in the sitemaps, and even more since the last active topics outputs as well forum urls and thus gives many more occasions for bots to find links to your final content.
A site map is essential, cause it's a lot faster to spider (less useless infos) and makes it easyer to find content (for bots and human).
The last active topics listing on each type of page will also add weight on those links, quite a lot actually, cause those they will appear in many pages and will change a lot (upon every new post almost) giving a dynamic feeling to your page bots will just love |

Did I read it write that you have a new phpbb sitemap in developement and if so is it more sense to wait for, or will it be fluid to update anyway?
Or are we to be testing it? |

Well, I decided to keep the [DEV] in titles as long as the mods here will not have been tested a bit more, but actually, there should not be any more major changes in the code prior to final release.
Also, in mx Google sitemap case, (will be the same for the mx Sitemap) I already submited the 1.0 version at www.phpbb.com so I'll wait until it will be ok to change it's dev status.
To answer your question, the mx Stemaps module (as well as the mx Google Sitemap one) is ready to and already used.
You can see it working in the demo links.
As well another member, which already tested the advanced phpBB SEO mod rewrite is using it. have a look.
And updates will be as easy as overwriting files and, but I doubt it will be that often, eventually run a small sql script.
Try it, you will see how easy it is to install it |
