Access different directory for avatars

Hi guys,
I have integrated phpbb with a cms which stores avatars @ www.sitename.com/files/pictures/picture-(userid).jpg
while the phpbb forum looks for avatar @ /forum/images/avatars/files/pictures/picture-(userid).jpg
and hence an image could not be seen.
forum is the subdirectory where i have installed phpbb.
is there any url trick which could be used in .htaccess to get the images

Well, to me this is only a matter of proper settings, you must be either able to change phpBB's or the cms avatar path to have both matching.
