Well, blank page means an error or warning is occurring and your server is not set to output them (as any live one should IMHO).

If you've access to the server error logs, take a look at them to find out more about the error, if not, you can set up a mirror test forum locally, with easyphp for example, and perform the test, you'll then see the error and will have an hint on how to fix it.

If you've recently modified privmsg.php, double check, and eventually go back to your backup version, as you do backup before you mod don't you
