I think have problems.Posted: Fri Sep 15, 2006 7:53 pm    Post subject: I think have problems.

Hello,

Sorry my bad English. Embarassed

I install the mx Google Sitemaps and The phpBB SEO Advanced mod Rewrite and phpBB SEO Dynamic Meta Tags and i have Ez portal.

All pages i think is ok, the address is ok, Google site maps ok.

I check in the Google all time "site:www.mydomain.com.br" and now found 63 pages, after 3 hours found 170 pages, never more the 200 pages.

I observed only the recent topics index in the Google, only the topics have link in the first page Ez Portal.

Why this i think have problems. Confused

Again sorry my bad English.

And welcome Very Happy

I confirm that besides the final touch, your phpBB SEO mod Rewrite and mx Sitemaps installation is working nicely.

I need to know how long ago you installed those (it does not seem you previously used mod rewrite), because with a PageRank of 3, Google should crawl all your pages, it's just a matter of time.
What I'd do is add :
Code:

Disallow: /member

In your robots.txt, as you can see, they show up in the Google omitted results.

Then it's normal the topic linked from the home page are spidered and cached faster than other, thie is just the natural crawl low, easier to find.
The way the Google sitemaps system works when the URL list start being quite big is first massively crawl and then massively crawl, one day, all the sudden you see thousands of cached pages.

Do you see the Google bot visiting your web site ?

Seeing this, I'd say that if you still have access to this previous crappy host, then continue using it, just to implement a nice HTTP 301 redirection in it and redirect all previous URL the the new ones. It's very easy and would make you win a lot of time.

If I had to move domain, I continue to pay for the old one without any hesitations just for this redirection purpose. It's really worth it, especially with a web site like yours

I think have problems.Posted: Mon Sep 18, 2006 8:43 am    Post subject: Re: I think have problems.

Just use php then, put this in a php file you name index.php

Code:
<?php
$uri = ltrim($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'], "/");
header("Status: 301 Moved Permanently", FALSE, 301);
header("Location: http://www.example.com/" . $uri );
exit();
?>

Just change www.example.com with your new domain.

It looks like you're going to keep this crappy host for long time Very Happy

I think have problems.Posted: Tue Sep 19, 2006 10:07 am    Post subject: Re: I think have problems.

Actually yes, you can try adding :

Code:
$uri = ltrim($_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'], "/");
header("Status: 301 Moved Permanently", FALSE, 301);
header("Location: http://www.example.com/" . $uri );
exit();

right after the <?php tag in includes/page_header.php.
This way all visitor should be http 301 redirected to the new web site.

Did you import DB and kept topic and forum id when you migrated ?

Because if so, users felling on the old domain will be redirected to the correct page of the new one Wink

Nope, you only need to submit the sitemapIndex : sitemap.php or better sitemaps.xml with mod rewrite everything else is auto Wink
