There is an error on distro of Mx-Sitemap?Posted: Wed Aug 16, 2006 7:45 pm    Post subject: There is an error on distro of Mx-Sitemap?

Hello.

I'm going to install the mods version on some bords (one is based on the Modded Version phpBB Orion, another one is based on XS)

I've installed in the Orion version all files (I'm using the phpBB SEO Advanced mod Rewrite V 0.0.2) and some others mod

During some test, based on this file on this forum I've realized some errors (404 not found) related when checking for the map of the forum.

In the link I've mysite/forum-map.html but It works only if I write

RewriteRule ^forum-map\.html$ /sitemaps.php?fim [QSA,L]

(on the line that in the file is wrote

RewriteRule ^forum-m\ap\.html$ sitemaps.php?fim [QSA,L])

in the .htacces.

Some suggest?

And Welcome Very Happy

It's not a distro problem, rather an organisation one, with providing so many different set up support, but this will get sorted Wink
So you need to go through few other steps with the advanced mod rewrite.

I'll post them all here to make it easier.

You'll need this patch and this one too (don't worry it is simple, and I'll fix all those in next release Wink )

Then apply this post's suggested code changes (it's basically uncommenting code in sessions.php as suggested in the install).

And last but not least you should install the auto link add on, and the Advanced mod rewrite patch (in this one you'll find the rewriterules to use instead as the suggested ones).

This is worth it, then, I am on my way to upgrade and upgrading will be a lot more easy Wink

Once done, go acp and add as many categories and link as you like in the site map index. As well, you can play with the last topic listing settings to output nice last topic lists in those. As well, you can play with the pagination parameters, allowing you for example to output 50 topic per page in the forum map view while you are using 25 in your true forums.

Take a look at the way I set it up here : http://www.phpbb-seo.com/sitemaps.html

I think (i have to see but it's almost midfight) I've applied and installed (maybee I didn't applied some patches).

Also I'm translating the mods with languages files in Italian (when finished I'll post to you a copy)

... al off your mods are installed on my private forum (fan writing) and now I'm triing to apply all to phpBB XS (that modded uses the old Webmedic SEO Toolkit). This board is a support board (I think I told you)

Thnks for now. Tomorrow I'll verify i made all passages that you wrote.

(I'd to modify some line becouse other mods installed but only in the search file).

Thanks again

Actually, the only "active code" stands in sessions.php and function.php, for the other files code change are just meant to activate the URL rewriting code in the first two files.

So, all you risk testing is to first see links un-rewritten, but this is then easy to add support for additional linking.

Then, for phpBB XS, it seems to me it's using categories hierarchy, and this could make it impossible for now to use the advanced mod rewrite. CH will be better supported in the future.
For other mods, it depends, some may need additional easy changes, we'll have to figure out.
