I downloaded SEO RC7
I have having problems with the SEO mod
when its off, I can see the forum,
when its on, all i get is a 404 on the forum.
Before you start, read this with caution.
=> For a smooth install :
1) Upload all files and lunch -www.yoursite.com/phpBB/ in your browser;
2) Follow the installation / conversion / upgrade steps;
3) Go to phpBB ACP : It's now time to play with settings described bellow;
4) Generate your personalized .htaccess and upload or move it following the instructions;
5) Test a rewritten URL, such as -www.yoursite.com/phpBB/post1.html, if you end up with a 404 (not a phpBB message), go back to step 5;
6) Activate URL rewriting in phpBB ACP and allow yourself some auto-congratulation 
How can you go back to step 5 if the HTML URL is not
showing to begin with. the .htacecss is in place.
any ideas? |

Well, you need to activate url rewriting in ACP before the link will actually be rewritten.
So going back to step 5, assuming you did step 6 just means to deactivate url rewriting in ACP.
Now, if the link tested does not work on step 5, this means you have an issue with your .htaccess.
You need to work on the available options and test which one works before you go to step 6 again. |
