|

OK. I asked a question in another area, but I would like to just install the premod and over-right the previous mods I installed. I'm using version 3.0.
I don't care about the old urls as they are not all indexed yet, and I'm not getting any traffic. The only thing I want is to keep the posts I have right now.
Can I just install the mod normally and find that my posts are still there? |

To go from phpBB 3.0.0 to the SEO premod 3.0.1, you could 1) update your phpBB3 db using the install/database_update.php script from the changed file update package (the phpbb.com one), 2) immediately follow this set of instruction to install the SEO premod over phpBB3 (same version).
Note that doing so, you'd skip the phpBB3 file update, so your forum would probably not work properly before step 2 is done (the file upload part).
You can do the full phpBB3 update if you want your forum to work properly before the end of step 2, but, if your forum has few visitors for now, locking it during the process can be enough.
As well, you may need to manually take care about your theme in case you modded it or if you are not using subsilver2 or prosilver. This topic should then help : Prosilver / subsilver2 code changes.
It's not very difficult to do, but local testing could still help out to have things working faster on the online board. |

Thanks so much for responding SeO. I would like to go the easiest root as I'm not very experienced. I have no problem locking the forum for a while.
Anyway, I'll give this a shot. Thank you. |
