Hello,
I've just installed the package ... then sat the following settings:
- Activate URL rewriting: Yes.
- URL rewriting type: Advanced.
- Profiles and groups injection: Yes.
- Virtual folder Profiles: Yes.
- Profiles ID removing: Yes.
- Common Search and User messages pages rewriting: Yes.
- SID Removing: Yes.
- Highlights Removing: Yes.
- Remove small words: NO.
- Virtual Folder: NO.
- Virtual Root: NO.
- Forum URL caching: Yes.
- Forum ID Removing: Yes.
- Copyrights, Link image: Yes.
- No duplictate, Activate The No duplictate: Yes.
- Zero duplictate, Activate the Zero duplictate: Yes.
- Strict Mode: NO.
- Posts Redirections: ALL.
Then I've saved or submit the information and then browsed the .htaccess file (http://www.domainname.com/phpBB/adm/index.php?sid=bff004e07b4723b189812e569270e3f2&i=phpbb_seo&mode=htaccess) and selected all info and pasted it into a new .htaccess and replaced it with the one exist in the root for the public_html folder.
Now the links are as follow:
- Category : -http://www.domainname.com/phpBB/your-first-category-f1.html
- Forum : -http://www.domainname.com/phpBB/your-first-forum-f2.html
- Topic : -http://www.domainname.com/phpBB/welcome-to-phpbb3-t1.html
- second reply in the topic is: -http://www.domainname.com/phpBB/welcome-to-phpbb3-t1.html#p2.
- Profile: -http://www.domainname.com/phpBB/member/MGadAllah/
Now I have 2 questions:
- So do I still need to do any thing else to make sure that the board is SEO fine!?
- Also does the second reply of the topic in case it has a title ... is it possible to be displayed in the url!? instead of the #p2.
- Is it possible to remove the forum or category ID from the end of the url!? (http://www.itoverdose.com/announcements-f2/ - -http://www.itoverdose.com/announcements-f2/welcome-to-phpbb3-t1.html)
Please advise! |

So that's why local testing is advised, because you'll learn a lot about the possibilities by just trying them. It's not really good to perform such test online, since your urls will change too often.
So, in you case, if you think that your average topic title quality is good enough, you can go for the advanced mode.
The next question is to go for the virtual folder mode as well, if you want urls such as : forum-url-fxx/topic-title-tyy.html or forum-url/topic-title-tyy.html if you activate forum id removing.
The only thing to care about when you activate the virtual folder option is URL length, you should in such case lower the forum url length to the minimum (one or two (if two small) words).
This answers to you question about ids, they can be removed from forum urls, but not from topic urls, the option is forum id removing.
About post title in url, it not a good idea, we want one url per topic page, not one url per post.

I am launching a new board so I have really nothing to lose and every thing is just beginning ....
I've set Forum ID Removing: Yes.
So why I am still get the ID for forum/ category /topic in the url!?
But honestly I do not get your answers about my previous questions except that it is not possible to change the reply url.
But for the rest of the question I can not really understand and it is not your fault but it is my fault because I am not a technical guy... So if you please do not mind to simplfy your answer then it will really be just as great and really will be a great favor. Please I hope that I am not bothering you but be sure that I am really thankful for you my friend.
Thanks |

You now need to set up and cache your forum URLs in the forum url management ACP.
SEO will be fine with pretty mush all settings, it's the mod's point after all. The settings are there to allow you to make your URL standard unique and as closest to perfection as possible for your specific board.
You should still try the virtual folder option on a local test server, it's the option you seem to want, but do not forget about the URL length, or topic titles average quality.
About post titles, you really do not want to to use them in urls, believe me

There is something happened that I am really can not figure out the reason, but after I've downloaded the pre-mode package 3.0.2 you thankfully developned and installed it then I've added some styles I've found that nothing from the skins I've added is working and I do not have any mods at all. But when I've tried a normal package downloaded from the phpbb website I've found all skins that are native and compatible with phpbb 3.0.2 are working fine but when I am using the same skins with the packages I've downloaded from here I've found that nothing is working!?
Any reason why!? |

Every new custom style/theme is based on either prosilver or subsilver, you should try to find this from the author of the theme. Could be it is stated in the readme or on his website.
After you found out which one, you need to manually do the required changes. Example, if your style is subsilver based you need to do all the subsilver code changes to the files of your custom theme.
the required code changes can be found in the link dcz gave you |

Thanks a lot guys, But I have to say that this is really advanced for me as I am not that advanced for such tracking and editing
Honestly the most thing I like about the premode package that I will do nothing but just install then set options without any file editing...
No, I am not a lazy guy but I've did tried to reinstall and edit files more then several times so far and really each time I found something wrong.
If any one can help me to set it the right way ... I will be too much appreciated ... |

If you are not able to do code changes then you would do better to just use the default styles (prosilver & subsilver). I use prosilver on my board, and i just adjusted the header image to give my site a personal touch.
You can hardly expect the creators of this mod to include all custom styles in their mod.
But honestly, the code changes required for custom styles, are not that hard and there are only a few. Give it a try (backup FIRST !). You always have the default style (and your backup) to fall back on. |
