|

| Hi - I downloaded and installed the premod package and it works great. However - I am wondering what happens after I install another style? A lot of the modded files are in the subsilver2 and prosilver template directories so how can I take advantage of the SEO nods once I start using another style template? |

You will need to add the code changes to the appropriate sections of the template you want to use...
You should have a decent knowledge of the type of code in each of the templates if you are going to want to use a different template because many mods you may want to install will have you change certain code in the template files... You don't need to be able to write code, but you should at least be able to have an idea of what the code does. So, you'll need to open up the changed files in the subsilver2 and/or prosilver directories and locate the code changes and use them to change the code in whichever template you are interested in using.
Since there are so many styles available, you aren't going to find a mod author willing to provide the changes for each and every style...
I just went back to using subsilver2 after merging the premod files with my own files but it wasn't a big deal for me since I wasn't very happy with the style i was using and a few of my members weren't happy with it either... |

| I think what I will do is to modify the subsilver2 style myself - it is a good base anyway - I only really want to change the colours, icons and add a background style - should be fairly straightforward. I also want to add google adsense at some point.... |

That is exactly what I would suggest and is my goal as well. Though, I'm not very good at site design, it's not a big deal...
the icons are easy to change in the ACP, background is easy, and so are the colors.
Though, adsense will either require some CSS changes (to make your ads fit in) and custom code insertion or you will need to add another mod or something.
Either way, adding the adsense code where you need it isn't a very big deal if you play around a bit and figure it out yourself. It also prepares you better in the future because you gain even more of an understanding of how everything works together... Keep at it and eventually certain things will just come naturally... |
