Default phpbb 3.0.2 -> seo premod 3.0.2

Hello,
I apologize if I open a duplicate thread, but I didn't find the answer for my question.

I am running a website with joomla, bridged to a phbb 3.0.2 forum with no mods (in the /forum directory).
I'd like to upgrade the forum to phpBB SEO Premod 3.0.2.
What is the best (easiest and safest) way to make this upgrade ?
I was thinking to overwrite all files but config.php and .htaccess... What next ?

But it may be a bit different depending on how phpBB is bridged with joomla.
You'll at least will need to keep the bridge code up and running and pray for it to be compatible (should be but you need to make sure about it).
