It's been requested, so here you go. I only ask that you read the instructions carefully before attempting this and as always BACK UP EVERYTHING FIRST I will be available for support here and on my site. I do not claim to have authored these files, I only found/edited and or added to what was already available to make it work with current versions of Wordpress and phpBB3 as well as phpBB-SEO
I will also welcome anyone who wants to help or assist in any way as the development on the original authors site has stopped long ago.
For more information and the file download please go HERE to get it.
I do ask that any and all downloads are from the previous mentioned address so I can make sure the download is always current and updated, thank you. |

Good point.. check out this link to see what the Blog entry point looks like. Or click on this link to see what User blog post page looks like. And just to restate something. I did not create this, I just added to, edited or modified a few files to get things to jive with the latest versions of the two products. There were permission issues with the current versions and how they talked to each other. I'm in no way an expert on this mod and would definitely appreciate someone with a pile of technical php experience to assist in supporting and continuing this great mod. If anyone is interested, shoot me a PM |

| Hi. Just wanted to know... This means phpbb3 and wordpress share the same database, same user account for both? Thank you. |

You can use one database or 2 depending on how you install phpbb and wordpress, either way you do it you will have one user for both scripts. Fully utilizes phpbb member system for all areas on the integrated site. Once they register it will automatically make a wordpress account for them the first time they go to their own blog section. |

| Quick update. Currently the mod is working fine for those running WP 2.6.2 and phpBB or phpBB-SEO 3.0.2. I am looking at changing a few things in the next 2 weeks which should stabilize things a bit. I am still looking for anyone proficient in php, mysql etc who would like to aid in supporting this. if you are interested, even if you can only offer 5 minutes a month, please let me know. PM me here or at linmo.org |

This is great news. Thanks for the updates. I'm going to take a look and get right on it for one of my blogs.
That being said, I have a quick question:
My Wordpress BLOG is my HomePage where I've made it my "Portal" to my website.
What if all I want to do is install the phpbb3-seo site in my /forum directory and just Re-Use the Header and Footer from my Wordpress site?
I've figured out how to do it with an iFrame but I'm guessing there is another/better way.
Thoughts? |

| It depends on how proficient you are with html and css.. you can basically "clone" your blog header and footer into the overall_header and overall_footer html files for your phpBB theme.. That would be the easiest and most effective way to go about it. |

Can you point out some steps in order to make this header/footer integration? I'm only interested in this simple solution, not like the one of WP-united.
Do the phpbb and wordpress have to be in the same directory? same database? I'm knowledgeable with html and CSS, just trying to find out what will be the quickest way to do this. |

Yeah... That is what I was thinking.. Just keep everything completely separate and clone the headers and footers (and side white space).
Unfortunately, I'm good at hacking other peoples code and modifying CSS and HTML but when it comes to creating anything.... I'm at a loss.
Can you think of anyway to cheat? For instance, can I steal the Header variable from Wordpress and insert it into my phpbb template or header?
Thoughts? Would hate it if I had to recreate the entire template.
BTW - I'm using Mistylook from Sadish as my wordpres theme. I've found a BBpress theme but nothing for PHPBB yet.
Thnx! |
