Need to change the urls to a more seo friendly version

Hello, I am a newbie to phpbb.

What I need is the complete url of my posts to be changed to the post name istead of the default.

I think I need to use the mod rewrite mod, but I'm not sure. It doesn't seem as easy as doing it for wordpress where you just select a different option in the settings to change the urls.

I have triend downloading this phpbb mod, but no link appears on the page. Its just a line of text saying download.

Well if you want something really easy to use, I suggest you use our SEO premod. I strongly encourage you to try it on a local / test server to better understand the vast possibilities before you go online with it.

I wasn't exactly sure how it worked.

I have my phpbb3 installation up and running from fantastico with my custom theme.

Would it not be the same amount of work to install that as the mod by itself at this stage?

The good thing about the premod is that it includes all our seo mods at once, and we maintain updates packages for it, just like for phpBB3, so it's easy to maitain.

I had a quick look at the steps.

What is the: "changed file only package"

From my understanding I:

1) overwrite my current files except the ones stated with the pre mod files.

2) Make the changes to my current theme files.

I don't know what the changed file only package is though.

I went ahead and tried the install without your reply.

I uploaded the contrib files to overwrite my current files.

I refreshed my forum from my browser and I got this error.

[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /common.php on line 219: require_once(./phpbb_seo/phpbb_seo_class.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory

Can you help please.

Well first, what are trying to do ?

The update package are only meant to update the SEO premod, not phpBB3.
And you cannot use them to install the SEO premod over a pre-existing phpBB install.

Then, the principle is the same as per phpBB3, the changed files only package is providing with the files that changed in between the two concerned version, the automatic update package is to perform an automated update, just like with phpBB3.

I want the urls to be re-written the same as the thread titles.

Then you can install the advanced SEO URL mod, or the premod over your phpbb install, you'll just need to additionally mod your custom template.

Looks like you did not uploaded the phpbb_seo/ dir and files.
