Newbie looking for help

Hello all,

I have one phpbb 3 set up with a few topics and would like to upgrade it to phpbb with SEO mod so it gives static url.

Also is it possible to see the stats of the board?

Could someone give simple instructions as I am not quite good at setting up forums etc.

It's very easy on unmodded forums, requires some modding in other cases.

For the stats, if you only want the regular phpBB3 stats, you just need to replace :

I've seen this thread but couldnt quite make of it hence started a new one.

Just to make it clear, thats what I should do

1) Download premod full package and the changed file only package

2) Upload all files of premod full package rewriting the existing ones plus upload any additional files and directories in that package except config.php and .htaccess

3) Upload install directory for changed file only package and then forums/install/database_update.php to update the database

4) Upload and run phpbb_seo_install.php

5) Run ALTER TABLE `phpbb_topics` ADD INDEX ( `topic_last_post_id` ); SQL query....but where in phpmyadmin?

Sorry to be troublesome but dont really want to mess the existing installation.

If you could be of help, I am more than happy to pay small amount towards your effort and time to install it smoothly for me.

You seem to confuse a bit between upgrading and migrating from phpBB3 to our premod, these are two thing that should be done separately.

If your forum is not modded at all, to go from phpBB3 to the premod (same version), you'd just need to replace all phpBB3 files with the premod one expect config.php, run the phpBB SEO installer and run the no dupe query.

So the easiest and safest would probably be for you to set up a local server and try the procedure offline to see how it goes. From there we'll see what to do Wink

It doesnt work for me Embarassed

I downloaded http://downloads.phpbb-seo.com/seo-url-premod-12/ and upload all the files in contrib folder into my existing phpbb directory and tried running the installer.....it gives some errors and wouldnt run.

Please couldnt u tell me which file I have to download from this website because there are quite a few and I am not sure which one is for Sad

I did not mean to use the premod's installer, but rather the mod rewrite's one which which only add the required acp modules (rather than install phpBB again).

The thread I mentioned tells you where to find and use the mod rewrite installer in the premod's package.
