Seo and private forums

I am currently adding some new forums to my site and want them to remain hidden until I have added lots of content in the way of posts and so I was going to make a private forum and then add all the posts. When it is complete I will change the permission to public and so everyone will see it.

I just wondered if making it a private forum first would prevent the topics from being shown in the sitemap and the search engines?

GYM will only list public forums in google sitemaps, so as long as you do not provide the bot group with enough right to visit this private forum, they won't even see it in the forum.

The rss auth features will allow user with enough right to see them, like the admin, but you can still exclude the forums in acp if you do not want to be bothered by these while reading your feeds Wink
