cleaning up phpbb3 code

hello,

in order to be better referenced, i would like to clean up the html of my phpbb3 forum. i would like to know if the following code is necessary and if removing it will help or not. thank you

on index.html:

each forum has a title; is it necessary? and the title says new posts or no new posts.

Yes you can get rid of it, not that it will make a big difference.
You could as well easily use the item title (topic or forum in this case) instead of the status (read / unread) with small template edition.
