Hello there! I am a web developer and recently my boss asked me the following:

Since we submit an optimized site what is going on with spiders, and that is how often do they spiders pass from my site, do we have to resubmit the site to engines and directories, will the spiders pass forever and if that happens should i refresh the site's content?

Could anyone help me?

To make it short, what do you mean by "optimized site" ?
Because SEO is more than just optimizing the web site itself, you need activity, good content and backlinks as well.

Then, it can take a bit of time at first, but once bots will start to spider your web site, it's rather a never ending process. Rates may vary upon your web site content, activity and backlinks, but should be rather continuous.

A good thing to do when starting a web-site is to implement some bot tracking method to make sure bots are visiting it.

It's lees important once you get massively crawled (more than an hundred URL loaded / day or so) but at first, it is.

About refreshing the sites content I wud like to add - "Content is the King"
You must update ( put fresh and usefull content ) regularly on your website. Bots track how often you update your webpages and adjust their frequency of visits accordingly.
