Hi, I wud like to share a rather strange thing with you. As per my knowledge generally Google robots spider and index more pages from your website. I dont know if I am correct, but this is what I feel by going thru number of forums.

I just checked my forum's "Link Popularity" using the tool on your website.
Here is the result :

If I recall well, you submitted your web-site at the yahoo! directory, so it's rather normal that Yahoo! spidered your web-site quite deeply.

Looking at the yahoo! listing we already find you newly http 301 redirected URL such as this page and others with still the old www.newindianmodels.com/forum/post-55.html and www.newindianmodels.com/forum/about90.html which will soon disappear as they are http 301 redirected Wink

So I guess this situation is just not new, Yahoo! did have a longer list, most likely because it first was.

Google and MSN did not, so far, have a good path to your new forum (remember the forum link thing ?) so they did not spider it well yet.

If you look at the Google listing you can see the few link that where already in cache where properly http 301 redirected to your new urls.

It's just that Google must be now massively crawling your newly installed Google sitemap and thus your forum before it will start updating the cache.

Yeah, just be patient... I think in time Google will adjust. I also have the Advanced SEO on my forum and Google only gives me 47 links, while Yahoo! 1,291 and MSN 684. Which, are both very important since I do get traffic from MSN and yahoo search engines.

Is there any way to check how many back links are there to my website from a particular website ?

I don't know of any precise method with Google, here it seems MS is offering this extra option : site:www.thedomainyouwanttotest.com link:www.yourdomain.com

this gives for example : site:www.phpbb.com link:phpbb-seo.com

Wow nice tool. I wish this was available for google also. But atleast this solves my problem for time being, now I can know how many backlinks are there from a particular website to mine. Smile

One more thing, I have noticed ( as in able2know website ) they hv restricted bots/spiders to index ( /crawl/follow ) external links, is there any wayto know if a particular website that is exchanging a link with us is actually allowing the bots/spiders to index ( /crawl/follow ) our link ?

I hope you understand, there is no point in having 100s of backlinks from a particular website without it actually being followed by spiders.

Well, it's even more strict than than at able2know.com, they do not allow signature nor www image links in posts..

I agree. Internet is about sharing not hiding. While going thru your post above something came to my mind about external links thru images and text links. I am starting a new topic for that. It might be helpful to others too. Smile
