Whats the difference between image and text backlinks

It wud be great if you can through some light on the differences between image and text backlinks. Like www image link on your forum and links in the signature, from SEO point of view. Which ones do spiders prefer ? Is having one image link and another text link to same website from same page considered as 2 backlinks by spiders ? Or for that matter how do spiders see and rate more than one link to a particular website from a particular page ?

Also what about many backlinks from a particular website Vs same number of backlinks from 5 different websites ?

you can put some keywords in links and spiders can see that links.
for example pay attention to the phpbb SEO copy right. that links are in text form
and contain two keyword, "phpbb" and "SEO"
when spiders crawl other site that are linked to phpbb seo, and find that links. they can see that two words (i mean "phpbb" and "seo" words) and they can understand that there is relation between destination of that links and that two word.
but images are not contain any word and bots can see the text in image.

and another one: when you search word liar in google. the first link in result page is tony blair biography at (-http://www.number-10.gov.uk/output/Page4.asp). that page doesn't contain word liar too.

when you put some keyword in the text, google will pay attention to them and if you try hard and make many link to your site you can grab that keywords for your site.

A similar story happened to Nicolas Sarkozy (a French minister), -www.iznogoud-lefilm.com/, which was the target was first for quite some time and is still on the first page.

So I agree text links are the most efficients, but images links are good too, because they allow both alt and title tags in the image link. We can still add the same amount of text than with the text link (text + title).

Actually, it's not really a matter of the link type in this case.

Both image and text link can be taken as backlinks by Google. But it's not a matter of having more than one link per page, and of which kind, since only one per page will be eventually considered, and not on all pages.

So, there is off course some consideration about the number, for example if you compare three pages on the same domain, one with a single text link, one with a single image link and one with both image and text link, it's very likely the last one will be the one better considered as a backlink as it's looking like it's more important.
But this does not mean you should seek for 10 links per pages.

Then, it depends. In theory, you'd better have 5 backlinks from 5 different domains than 5 on the same one (which would not be all considered as backlinks, at least by Google).
But this depends on the domains themselves, because in practice, you'd better have 1 links on a related PR5 than 10 on unrelated PR0.
