have a look at polishforums.com
I've noticed that they are using a lot of the mods from here however I've also noticed that they display the most recent 25 posts at the bottom of the index page (topics anywhere mod?)
Is this a good thing to do in terms of SEO?
Will google visit them more often because their index content is always changing? |

| It's a good thing, sure. Bot's heart those links and will definitely crawl them. Can help a lot to get your forum's content indexed. |

To me these can help out to have new content indexed fastest.
The forum index is the page supposed to end up with the greatest PageRank, thus one of the most often crawled, as it's the most linked one in you forum, so it can be good to have a last active topic listing on it.
Now, phpbb index being already one of the heaviest page to load for the server, you as well want to keep it loading quick.
