I was not sure where to post this, so I am sorry if it is in the incorrect place- feel free to move it
I was wondering if it was possible to add the nofollow attribute to links that are posted in my forum?
Every day I get spammers and possible spam posts that post links, it would be good to leave some of the links, but add the nofollow attribute to stop the search engines from following the link.
Is this possible?
Thanks in advance

Thanks falkra,
I have these inplace already. It is human spam that I am trying to stop, sometimes they join and then will make a post like-
" I have recently been on a plastering course from www.example .com and I wondered if anyone else had been one one?"
I don't want to delete the post incase the poster is genuine, but the chances are that the link was just posted to get a link back to their site. If I could make it nofollow then there would be no gain in having the link in the first place |

One the one hand you're right, that's for sure easier to deal with, but, on the other one, I really want our members to have good backlinks here.
So no need to say the type of user you mention, and I think someone is going to be warned soon ( ), requires personalized response.
The deal is pretty simple, since we give good backlinks, there is no need to foul around, the rule is don't spam or you'll be banned, and spam definition is left to the phpBB SEO team.
Later, we may have to set even more strict rules, but so far, it's pretty clear I think.

This wil give you lot of outbound links that you don't want, so it's a very usefull mod.

I have had a few of these that keep posting links to a certain tool site. I'm sure that the guy in question works for the tool site that he keeps posting the links to!
I looked at his profile and saw his e-mail address was something like joe Blogs @ whatever.com and I was going to phone the tool firm and ask if Joe Blogs was there, but I was too busy and when I finally had the time I checked his profile and he had changed the e-mail address
The mod works really well, it is a great addition to phpbb |
