Hi, i had work really hard for months building backlinks for my site. Exchanging links with some sites of my category, and submiting to a lot of well ranked web directories.
Right now google shows 300 backlinks for my page ( http://www.google.es/search?q=link%3Atupincho.net&sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1B3GGGL_esVE216VE217 ). Past month was 450 backlinks. Why this variation ?
Yesterday i get listed in dmoz. Becasue i know that a lot of directories uses the same Dmoz data i know im now listed in a lot of other directories as well. That means more backlinks.
Why google only take some of my backlinks and the other ones are not taked in consideration? anyone know how this stuff works? |

| Google is more looking on how relevant the links was in our site not unlike before that quality is at most. In simple explanation on how Google consider the links as our backlinks, is that quality rather than quantity. |

Absolutely, it is not necessarily a problem to have many backlinks, but 100 links on a well related PR5 will probably have more impact on PageRank, and by far, than a thousand on not really related PR2 pages.
That's why many websites do have a PR over 5 with couple hundred Google backlinks, other do not cross 3 with several thousands.
It's not this obvious for SERPs, where links do seems to matter a bit more, even though there is still some moderation going on, since the amount of backlinks shown in the Google webmaster central (usually far greater than the link: command one) is usually quite lower than the one shown by yahoo.
As always, PageRank is not what maters the most, SERPs and referrals are  |
