Google doesn't crawl correctlyPosted: Tue Sep 25, 2007 7:22 pm    Post subject: Google doesn't crawl correctly

I have installed Simpe Mod Rewrite, Simple Zero Duplicate and mx sitemaps two months ago.

Trying to find some of my topics in Google I get no result...

I use phpBB2 Plus 1.52 with phpBB 2.0.22 and Google only gives as result the topic on portal last 10 topics and not the topic on forum.

Here is my robots.txt

Any suggestions?

What does Google Webmaster Tools say on the Sitemaps page? It should indicate how many URLs were processed and when. Also your site URL and an example search that returns a result (even if you have to use the site: attribute).

I use the site: attribute but I get the same result...

On my sitemaps page I can see I have 1994 URL submitted. I cannot understand if which URL's are they...

Can you be more specific?

I don't understand, this returns > 11600 entries. The problem would seem to be duplicates, not google not recognizing your site.

http://www.google.gr/search?q=site%3Agetin.gr

The sitemap also looks correct:

http://www.getin.gr/sitemaps.xml

You may want to consider blocking pages like this:

http://www.getin.gr/printview.php?t=3333&start=0

I assume that's the print view of a topic and would be considered a duplicate.

Seems that zero duplicate doesn't work good...

Is there any tip to block printview of my topics?

Thanks a lot for your time.

2 Months is still a bit early... In time, the results get better.

For your robots.txt to block printview.php

Disallow: /printview.php

The zero dupe is working correctly. For example:

http://web-sniffer.net/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.getin.gr%2Fviewtopic.php%3Fp%3D7708

Like Peter said, add a robots.txt rule. It doesn't hurt to add rel=nofollow to the <a> tags you don't wish bots to follow. Google will take a long time to drop all those printview.php references, but it will eventually.

ΟΚ Thanks! How long do I have to wait until my results get better.

From my Google analytics account, visitors number comes from Search Engines is horrible the last 2 months...

A few months. In my experience, Google doesn't dramatically change your incoming traffic week to week. Every few months ("Google Dance"), the indexes get reshuffled and you may (or may not) see a sudden shakeup. Getting notable backlinks help. While the link: attribute isn't very accurate, it only shows 9 backlinks for your site:

http://www.google.com/search?q=link%3Agetin.gr

In addition to good content, having good quality backlinks gives your site more weight.
