Well, I am not sure about that.
Changes made on this site are huge and where mainly intended to develop new methods while experimenting the folder injection trick.
More detail are to be found on this post.
I the folder injection trick is experimental SEO wise, as we all know the good old discussions about long url and folders vs short URL, everything in the root folder.
But I am thinking something simpler to release will be possible with phpBB 3, so stay alert
