Files editing?

I have a little problem with the manual in case that my english is not so good.

Are all the changes made automaticly by the instalation or have I to edit the files as mentioned in the manual an then upload them with the other files in the download package?

I only uploadet the files in the packaged, followed the installation and insered the .htaccsess flle to the root, but nothing happened to the urls. Mode Rewrite is supported by the server.

Well yes, you need to do the editing by hand, unless you are using a phpBB3 forum without any mods installed, in such case you can use the premodified file from the contrib folder of the zip package.

There is no premodified files in our phpBB2 mods.
