Seo Premod,problems with Global Ad.

Postby Pikadilly » Sun Jun 22, 2008 8:43 am

Hello everyone,
Excuse me for English  , but I know only talk Roman dialect . :D

I have a problem with a forum premod latest version. When I write a global ad in a given section (es. Regulation) and click on this announcement from his section, the breadcumbs topic of change, or is not

Index> Regulation> topic

The ad shows breadcumb another section (remember that I clicked the ad from section "Regulation")
example

Index> othersection> topic

Even deleting the section which refers, he will choose another ... if I sign by the various sections of the forum is ok, it works fine.

l example is here:

.forum-directory.it/announces/regolamento-t12.html

As you can see the breadcumb is not right.

As you can see the breadcumb is not just because I clicked on the ad section "Il progetto Forum Directory" and not "Acquisti On Line » Forniture per aziende."

I explained?I hope so.

I hope that I explained, thanks for your help! :)

That's the regular phpBB process, global announcement do not have a forum id, so phpBB just pick the first postable forum for them.

So originally, global announcement are creating duplicates, since they still can use a forum id and that this id can change, but it's not the case anymore with url rewriting, only the breadcrumb will not match (it's actually logical since announces/ is not a forum).

[EDIT]
By the way, I just noticed that you had a problem with your www prefix redirection :
forum-directory.it/announces/regolamento-t12.html is redirected to -www.forum-directory.it/ instead of -www.forum-directory.it/announces/regolamento-t12.html

You'll find answers about this here : http://www.phpbb-seo.com/boards/seo-tec ... -vt30.html

So it is normal? Oh, thank you so much, in fact I tried to make it normal message and asked me to give him a category. Thank you very much indeed! :D

Edit:

I have now seen the edit ... now I see the link ;)

Sorry,
you say that is normal, but even if global ads do not have forum, why it appears in that category?

Each ad overall ago so if I click on another forum the breadcumb remains the same.

index> acquisti online> Forniture per aziende

Why?

Excuse me for my english. :(

The "announces/" dir is virtual, it's only an url rewriting trick to mke things nicer for global announcement urls, since they do not have a forum set, we simulate one when virtual folder is activated.

I'm not sure to understand you about the breadcrumb, but there is no reason why it would not work IMO.

Thank you,
the breadcumb is the backward path of the post or

Index> category> topic

The post we are talking to must have this breadcumb:

Index> post

because it is a global ad.

The sections must be these:

Index> name section> post

Instead, it is always in one category and not in the category from where you access.

I attach two pictures:

With modrewrite:

Without modrewrite:

Hello,

I solved by inserting in overall-header.html a link to the regulation took me as a message in its normal section. The ad global problem remains, but at least this way can we tackle the question.

Thanks to all.

As said, this issue isn't really one, because it comes from the fact that global announces do not have any forum set.
Without URL rewriting, the link will includes a forum ID which will be used in the breadcrumb, with url rewriting, the forum ID is retrieved in viewtopic.php's code instead (not sent in the url) and you get a different one.

But in both case, it's not the real forum id, since again, these do not have forum id, the id used is just one from a postable forum.
