mod rewrite points to localhost

Postby shakthibalaji » Mon Mar 16, 2009 7:28 pm

hi there

i installed Advanced rewrite mod in my live server after installing and testing in my local. Actually it is working fine but the links are pointing to my localhost. for example

instead of pointing like
http://www.antcommunity.com/make-birthd ... le-f8.html
(if we copy and paste this link it is working fine)

it is pointing as

This can be check right now also. I have enabled mod rewrite. I generated the .htaccess file in the server only. Pls help. Thanks in advance.

Hi ,

i think i fixed the problem. I don't know whether i completely fixed it or not. i ran this query and cleared the cache. I have to wait and see if any of my visitor reports me any problem.

Code: Select all
update phpbb_config set config_value='[site_domain_name]' where config_name like 'server_name'

Yes, you need to update the phpBB server and cookie setting when migrating from a domain to another (localhost being the local domain).

So make sure that if phpBB is installed in -www.example.com/phpBB/ you set :
server_name :www.example.com
script path:/phpBB
cookie domain:.example.com
with the dot (".")!
If phpBB is installed in the domain's root, just delete the phpBB bit of the script path in the above, if it is installed in a sub domain, just replace the www bit with the sub domain name in the above, if you are using the domain name without www prefix, then drop the www. (with the dot) in the above.

All this can be done in the acp.
