I am looking to change my forum topic titles and post title urls to the actual names. I just want to check that the advanced seo url mod is the correct one to do this with?

Yes it is, at least for topics, since post urls will be left statically rewritten (postxx.html by default). Post urls are not including keywords because they are duplicates, so we want to drop them in favor to the corresponding topic url, which is done by the zero duplicate (HTTP 301 redirecting) and the no duplicate (url translation from post to topic url among forum and topic pages).

An example of what I have at the moment.

viewforum.php?f=6

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4

I want them both to be proper text that will help with my seo rather than the post/topic id.

What do I need to do?

I was just mentioning that post (viewtopic.php?p=xx) are treated differently than topic (viewtopic.php?t=xx) as far as url rewriting, and this, for (very) good reasons. Have a look at the demo server where the advanced mode is used together with the no and the zero dupe mods.

I think that you should now take the time to set up a local install of our SEO premod to better understand what our mods are doing, believe me, it's not time loss even if you in the end go for the standalone installs on your forum
