Upgraded to phpBB 3.0.5, member profile problem

Postby sp3ctre » Sat Jun 13, 2009 8:55 am

The upgrade seemed to go ok and the forum works fine apart from when I click on a members profile it tries to go to /member{USER_ID}.html.

What do I need to change to fix this?

I am actually surprised quite how well it stood up to the upgrade. IMO the sooner the better automod works with these things, it would be great to be able to uninstall the mod, upgrade the forum, then re-install (a tested version of) the mod.

Thanks in advance

The simplest way to fix this would be to a) grab the latest seo premod package, b) copy from it's includes/function_content.php all the code for get_username_string() function and paste it over yours.

The premod's code is the exact same as the ultimate seo url mod ;)

That sorted it... thanks!

Out of interest, what is the *correct* way to upgrade when a new phpBB version comes out? If you copy over the premod files then you lose all other upgrades to phpBB, so that would be a nuisance. Is the only real way to pick through what breaks and fix it at the time?

We should shortly work on modx install files.

But personally, I always update using beyondcompare (winmerge can do the job too, but it's less handy). A frontal merge is a good way to a) check all files (which is not a bad thing) and b) keep all the custom code we added.
Once done, I run the install/database_update.php script and done.

No need to mention I do this on a local server ;)
