Installed Ultimate URL Rewrite. But have problem.

Postby Br33zer » Thu Nov 26, 2009 2:05 pm

I have installed phpBB SEO Ultimate URL rewrite in my demo forum. I wanted to check it before installing in live forum. After installing successfully, when I go to any forum and click any topic, I just get a blank page. The problem is only when I see a topic.

Here are the settings in ACP:

My demo forum URL:http://www.gossipall.com/

After saving the settings I had moved the .htaccess file from phpbb_seo/cache to desiforum.byethost2.com/forums. I see that it has worked. The urls have changed to easier ones. But the only problem is, when I click a topic, I get a blank page.

What could be the problem?

Also, my live forum is already getting indexed. Will adding this MOD affect the already indexed pages for example by Google? And my live forum has Forum SEO and Advanced META Tags MOD installed already.

Please tell me the best settings in the ACP for phpBB SEO Ultimate URL MOD too if the settings shown above in screenshots are not proper.

Thanks.

For the bank page, please activate phpBB debug (both level) and report about the error message that should show up.

Then, for the rest, just install activate the zero duplicate, with the post redirection option set to at least guests and all the natural url will be properly redirected to the new ones, saving your current SERPs.

Hey,

I have got this working without the Zero Duplicate MOD.

Now, the thing is this Ultimate URL Rewrite MOD sufficient on Live forum or do I need to do some other edits and MODs too? My forum is already getting indexed by some bots though. Ofcourse its a new forum.

Also, that Zero Duplicate MOD you mentioned is necessary with this?

My forum is running on phpBB 3.0.5

And why do I get this if I select almost all forums for search on this board?

Code: Select all
SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Data too long for column 'seo_page' at row 1 [1406]

The error is fixed now, you can search all forums again ;)

What did you do to have it work ?

And yes, as said above, the zero duplicate would be a good thing to fight against duplicates, especially since you migrated from natural urls.

What file or edit I'm missing? :S

I don't see it even after disabling the Ultimate URL Rewrite MOD from ACP.

Plz help!

Again, that's all you need :

In addition NOT to implement the robots.txt right now, but rather after at least two month after zero dupe activation (as said in install file).

I have installed the Zero Duplicate too :D

But don't understand the robots.txt....Why should I upload it when I can directly give permissions to robots through ACP :S

====EDIT====

Just found out, Thanks Mod v1.2.4 is not working after installing Zero Duplicate :(

The link for the Thanks button appears like this :http://www.my-domain.com/post1797.html?thanks=1797&to_id=182

While all other buttons like Edit, Quick Edit, Quote, Wall Post, Reputation Button, etc works.

Also, all buttons have a .php extension unlike the Thanks button. Like for Reputation, the link for the same post is:

Thanks button works if I disable Zero Duplicate from ACP.

What should be the fix for this? :S

Because you want to redirect before you disallow, otherwise it would be like dropping all your current SERPs (using natural url for the moment, eg before redirections).

For the thanks mod, this maybe : MOD Thanks for post by Палыч doesn't work

Or try searching a bit there are other threads dealing with the issue.

Excellent dcz. Working like charm.

I get that robots.txt too. I will install it after 2-3 months.

Cheers.

Off-topic: Will converting my phpBB 3.0.5 to phpBB SEO premod have any unwanted affects? Especially when decent number of MODS, some of which in BETA stage, are installed?

Hey dcz, I have got some problems. Some of the links don't get rewritable.

1) I have installed NV Advanced last post topic tiles on index page like in this forum. But the URL's of those links remain the same. How do I change their URL?

2) The links on member's profile like [ Test out user’s permissions ], [ Administrate user ], [ Banning ] also don't get rewritable. Instead they show a link like :http://www.mydomain.com/ucp.php?mode=switch_perm&u=0 for [ Test out user’s permissions ].

3) Also I have installed Gremlin's Medal System MOD. Even their short-cut links which appear on member's profile [ Medals Control Panel ] and [ Nominate Medal ]. Example:http://www.mydomain.com/medals.php?m=nominate&u=0 for [ Nominate Medal ].

How can I solve this.

Rather than respond to your PM I will reply publicly so that others might benefit in similar situations.

1) You have already solved by installing the No Duplicates mod.

2) These are not supposed to get rewritten. The Admin is the only person who even sees those links so web crawlers don't see them anyways.

3) I don't know what Gremlin's Medal System nor can I see medals or nomination options on your site. You'll need to clarify this issue to get help.

I know that. I was not bother for these links to be crawled. But the links don't appear right.

For "Test Out Users Permissions" , the link which appears for a random member is this: http://www.mydomain.com/ucp.php?mode=switch_perm&u=0

This is my problem. This is a non-existent member by default. The same link appears for every member. So is the case with Banning and Administrate User

3) I don't know what Gremlin's Medal System nor can I see medals or nomination options on your site. You'll need to clarify this issue to get help.[/quote]

Same problem as above. I get u=0 for every member.

Also, you didn't clarify this one. The topic url are rewritten but the post URLs are not. The post link which I get is -http://www.mydomain.com/#p3143 instead of -http://www.desiboards.co.cc/topic-title#p3143 or something like that like for this post of mine, the URL is: Installed Ultimate URL Rewrite. But have problem.
